The subtitle of this talk is: Being Catholic in a Pluralistic Culture. The dilemma Catholics have always faced- and perhaps as fiercely, if not more, today than ever before- is the supposition that religion is a matter of personal opinion and not objective truth. As such, when Catholics purport to have positions on practically everything, people are quick to assert, “That’s just your opinion, but it isn’t true for me!”
Could this be? Is religion, which is defined as the act of worship offered to a deity, merely one’s personal preference; or, must it be based in objective, absolute truth? In this talk delivered to the Calgary Catholic young adults group, Noli Timere, Fr. Cristino examines the place of Catholicism in the midst of other religions and the black or white question of whether it is THE true religion or not.
