In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. (Luke 1:39-40)
The Church of the Visitation radiates with Mary. Of all the holy sites, it is the most explicitly and affectionately Marian. The walls of the shrine recall both the biblical scenes of Mary’s life and her perpetual intercession throughout the centuries, forever guiding her children to her Lord and Son, Jesus Christ.
It is here that you discover Mary to not be a nostalgic memory of the past or a static character within the scriptures. Rather it is here that you experience just how alive she is, how her faith in her son and the joy he brought into her life made her his greatest disciple and his most reliable intercessor for his people.
It was joy above all else, that wonderful fruit of the Holy Spirit, that one encounters in the Church of the Visitation. It is here that you can call Mary your own mother and trust she walks with you all of your days.

“She stands out among the poor and humble of the Lord, who confidently hope for and receive salvation from Him. With her the exalted Daughter of Sion, and after a long expectation of the promise, the times are fulfilled and the new Economy established, when the Son of God took a human nature from her, that He might in the mysteries of His flesh free man from sin.” (Lumen Gentium 55)
